Naan, a flat Southeast Asian bread, is the perfect shape and texture to make personal pizzas at home. I buy mine at the supermarket but I would love to and should find a local Asian market to buy them as I’m sure they’re much better that way. My husband was the first to suggest to make pizzas with naan when I was craving pizza one day but didn’t want to eat super unhealthy. Obviously a flat bread covered in cheese isn’t the pinnacle of health, but it sure doesn’t leave me feeling as disgusting as I do when I eat fast food pizza.
If you’re looking for healthy pizza alternatives for you or for your kids or just want a super quick lunch or dinner, I definitely think these are great. They’re so easy seeing as you can get most of the ingredients premade and only assembly is required. However, what’s also great about them is they could easily be made gourmet by making homemade naan and pizza sauce. I hope you like it!
Naan (store bought or home made)
Any and all of your favorite toppings (I use kalamata olives and sun dried tomatoes)
Spread pizza sauce evenly over top of naan
sprinkle cheese evenly over the sauce
add your toppings
Bake at 400° F for about 7 minutes or until cheese is completely melted
Broil under 500° F for one minute for extra cheese browning
